Urban Rain|Design and Quadriga Landscape Architecture have been asked to develop a guidebook for private-based stormwater management that will complement the 2009 San Mateo Countywide Sustainable Green Streets and Stormwater Management Design Guidebook. This guidebook will look at developing design recommendations for managing stormwater runoff with single-family, multi-family, and mixed-use developments as well as industrial and school sites. The anticipated completion date for the guidebook is June 1017.
Working with Suisman Urban Design and Michael Vergason Landscape Architects, Urban Rain|Design is developing downtown streetscape design standards and the conceptual design for Main Street in Burlington, Vermont. Kevin Robert Perry is currently developing the stormwater toolbox to be applied within the design standards.
Urban Rain|Design is currently assisting Tetra Tech in the revising the California Stromwater Quality Association's Stormwater Best Management Practice Handbook. Revisions will include a more robust look at how stormwater can be managed in ultra-urban environments using the latest green infrastructure tools.
Results are in from Omaha’s Green in the City Competition, and we’re excited to announce that our team, comprised of El Dorado Inc, Urban Rain|Design and the KSU Design+Make Studio won. Green in the City, launched last fall, is a national design competition to create an innovative urban community space in downtown Omaha. As winner of the competition, El Dorado Inc. will be awarded a design commission to complete the project pending approval of the sponsor and project stakeholders. See our winning design boards here.
Urban Rain Design collaborated with Nitsch Engineering and the artistic talents of Stacy Levy to win the first phase of the DC Water Green Infrastructure Challenge Design Competition. Our design team has created a bold and highly implementable concept plan for the public sector category along NW Kennedy Street in Washington DC. Our plan for NW Kennedy Street would eliminate up to 580,000 gallons of stormwater entering the combined sewer system and does it an a vibrant and creative way. Selected finalists will be invited to submit a second phase full proposal for constructing their respective design projects, so check back to learn the results of this in the spring.
